Defend Bunker from Zombies Bunker Rooms & Base Expansion
Prioritize farms, fuel, medical, mining, and cash boost machines without starving your night defenses.
A starter bunker in Defend Bunker from Zombies is only a shell. Bunker Corp! expects you to expand into specialized rooms and machines — farms, generators, medical spaces, mining wings, oil production, revive stations, and cash boost machines — so daylight economy keeps up with escalating nights. This guide orders unlocks, explains how rooms interact with Survivors, and shows when expansion is greed versus necessity.
New players should finish Getting Started and redeem Codes before spending every scrap on vanity rooms.
Core room types players unlock
Live builds differ slightly; community runs consistently highlight:
| Room / machine | Primary job | Build when |
|---|---|---|
| Farm / cook space | Food for players and survivors | Immediately after basic walls |
| Generator / fuel loop | Power for lights and defenses | Before first extended night |
| Trap & craft stations | Walls, spikes, bow turrets | Parallel with early farms |
| Medical / bandages | Trauma recovery between waves | Once bruises outpace looted medkits |
| Revive station | Bring teammates or key NPCs back | As soon as squad deaths start costing days |
| Oil / fuel production | Reduce risky oil scavenging | When fuel panic repeats nightly |
| Mining / smelting | Ore and metal for advanced craft | After food and fuel are stable |
| Boost machines | Cash-activated combat or economy buffs | When you have spare kill-cash mid-run |
| Secret / key rooms | High-tier loot behind gold keys | After you can survive the boss that drops keys |

Recommended unlock order
- Outer walls + gate discipline — rooms mean nothing if zombies walk in.
- Farm and cook — hunger wipes are more common than missing a mine.
- Generator reliability — blackouts erase turret value.
- Trap craft capacity — spike and turret throughput for early elites.
- Survivor housing near work stations — Veric-style wood helpers and Finn-style cooks need safe beds (Survivors).
- Medical and revive — public lobbies bleed time without them.
- Oil production — stop gambling daylight on distant fuel nodes.
- Mining / smelt — feed late weapons and bunker tech.
- Boost machines — activate with cash when nights are already stable.
- Key-gated secret rooms — trophy progression after Bosses and Elites are manageable.
Skipping straight to mining while starving is a classic wipe cause listed on Common Mistakes.
Boost machines and cash economy
Boost machines typically cost in-run cash from kills, not Shards. Activate them when you:
- Already cleared early night pressure
- Have ammo and repair materials stocked
- Plan an active farming window (optionally under FREEPOTIONS Shard boosts for meta currency)
Do not dump all cash into boosts while walls are cracked — see Shop and Weapons for spend priority.
Keys, airdrops, and secret wings
Gold keys often drop from tough encounters. Use them on bunker doors that open medical, mining, or trophy rooms — not as excuses to abandon night defense. Airdrops can refill medkits and guns; assign one runner only if the bunker has a watcher.
Survivors inside expanded bunkers
Named community examples include wood-focused helpers, cook specialists, and repair-oriented survivors. After each expansion:
- Reassign NPCs to the new stations
- Keep beds inside repaired walls
- Train toward the bottleneck the new room solves
Idle survivors in a fancy mine while farms rot still starve the squad.
Multiplayer expansion etiquette
Announce big builds before placing them on shared floors. One player owning the expansion plan prevents overlapping farms that block turret sightlines. Co-op Tips covers builder roles; Solo Tips covers compact room priorities when you cannot specialize.
Shards, gamepasses, and rooms
Shards from UPDATE_01 buy classes that make room defense easier — they rarely place rooms for you. Robux Limited Passes for classes like Pyro, Zeus, or Astronaut (see Gamepasses) change combat identity, not blueprint order. Free progression remains viable.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
What bunker room should I unlock first?
After basic walls, prioritize farm and cook space, then generator reliability. Mining and secret rooms come after food and fuel stop causing wipes.
Are boost machines worth the cash?
Yes when nights are stable and you will stay active. Skip them if walls are broken or ammo is empty.
Do I need a revive station for solo play?
Lower priority solo than in public lobbies, but still useful if survivor NPCs or self-revive loops exist on your build. Squads should unlock earlier.
How do gold keys relate to bunker rooms?
Key carriers and bosses can drop gold keys that open gated bunker wings. Secure the fight first, then unlock the door.
Should survivors sleep near the mine?
Only if the mine is inside secure walls. Otherwise house them by farms and craft stations that matter every night.
Do promo codes build rooms automatically?
No. Codes grant Shards and potions. Rooms are crafted or unlocked through in-run progression and materials.
